Citizenship
The objectives of this outcome are set forth to ensure that a student will understand the democratic process and principles under which we live; be a participating and involved member of the community; and be a responsible, globally aware and tolerant citizen.
A major part of my life has consisted of helping others, whether it be a small or big task. Throughout my high school experience I have gotten the honor of being presented the citizenship award more than once. This award is given to a student who exemplifies good behavior and goes out of their way to help others.
During the spring of my junior year I was inducted into National Honors Society (NHS). To be in the group the individual has to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete so many hours of community service. One of the major projects we do as a group is the blood drive in the spring, which is held every year in participation with American Red Cross. |
Over the past year the Flint water crisis has made headline news. Through the Communications and Media class at Shepherd, we used technology (advertising through social media) to get as much water as we could for a school in Flint. |
